The confirmed date and platforms

Resonance launches August 27, 2026 on:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X|S
• PC — Steam and the Epic Games Store

It’s a simultaneous worldwide release across all three platforms. There’s no staggered rollout, no “console-first then PC later” nonsense that’s become depressingly common. Everyone gets it the same day.

The one asterisk: there’s no current-or-last-gen version. This is a Series X|S and PS5 title built on Asobo’s Zouna engine, and there’s no PS4 or Xbox One release planned. If you’re still on last-gen hardware, your only route is cloud streaming.

Day one on Game Pass

The headline for a lot of players: Resonance is on Xbox Game Pass from day one. If you subscribe (Ultimate or PC Game Pass), you can play it at launch at no extra cost. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so a single purchase — or your Game Pass entitlement — works across Xbox and PC with shared saves and achievements.

That Game Pass launch is a big deal for a mid-budget, narrative single-player game. The earlier Plague Tale games were exactly the kind of “I’ll get it on sale” title for a lot of people; putting Resonance straight into Game Pass removes that friction entirely and should give it a much bigger launch audience than Innocence or Requiem had on day one.

What time does it unlock?

Asobo hasn’t published exact unlock times yet, and they vary by platform and region anyway. Based on how Focus has handled previous launches, expect:

• Steam: typically unlocks at midnight local time, or sometimes a set global time. Watch the Steam page’s countdown in the final week.
• PlayStation / Xbox: pre-orders usually pre-load a few days ahead and unlock at midnight local on launch day, or at 12:00 AM UTC for some global releases.

Pre-orders and editions

Pre-orders are already live across Steam and the console stores. At the time of writing, pre-ordering includes a free pre-order bonus — the Heritage Pack — a small cosmetic/extras bundle as a thank-you for buying early. A word of caution that applies to any pre-order: you genuinely don’t need to. Game Pass subscribers will have it day one regardless, and the game isn’t going to sell out — it’s digital. Pre-order only if you specifically want the bonus content or want it pre-loaded and ready at midnight.

Why August 2026 makes sense

Resonance was revealed back at the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, which gave Asobo a clean 14-month runway to a summer 2026 release. That’s a healthy, sensible development window for a studio of Asobo’s size building on an engine it already knows inside out.

Late August is also a smart slot on the calendar. It’s after the summer drought but before the brutal September–November avalanche of blockbusters. A polished, atmospheric, story-driven action game with a Game Pass launch can absolutely find its audience in that window without getting bulldozed by a Call of Duty or a Grand Theft Auto.

How long until launch?

Could the date still slip?

Anything’s possible — games get delayed, and “confirmed” isn’t “shipped.” But a few things make a slip less likely here. The date was announced with a substantial gameplay trailer, not a CG teaser, which usually signals the game is well into a playable, demonstrable state. It’s a fixed calendar date rather than a window, which studios tend to commit to only when they’re confident. And Asobo has a solid track record of hitting its targets.
